I had a 21.25 steadfast and it was perfect. It'll be my second custom fbm, and 4th fbm frame (5th fbm made frame). I briefly had an s&m atf which felt good but the welds put me off so I've ordered a custom fbm with almost identical geometry to the atf (plus a few little extras, which is the main reason I went custom).

The most recent T1 barcode they made left a lot of unhappy customers). S&m have become fairly well know for shitty looking welds (could still be as strong, but certainly not pretty. My personal opinion is that fbm's quality pisses all over s&m. Any recommendations for frames, cranks and gearing ratios? Any tips are welcome. I'm not looking to clear 20' gaps or anything too crazy but just something that's stable and strong enough to hold my weight. I'm assuming for better brake clearance and speed. I noticed a lot of guys run a larger sprocket and cassette on the rear wheel. Still undecided regarding crank length (170 or 175) and gearing. I really dig the geometry of the Hartbreaker with the low bb height and long chain stays. I won't be riding pegs and would prefer something on the lighter side. The CCR has great reviews but I would prefer a 14mm rear axle because I weight 250 pounds. I'm thinking about getting a Hartbreaker or maybe a Black Magic. I test rode a Fit Harti complete with a 21.125 top tube and it felt nice. It's been fun but I miss riding the bikes I road when I was a teen. I've been riding an S & M ATF with 22" wheels and a 22.125 top tube and it feels a bit too big. I'm looking to build a 20" bmx bike mainly for dirt/trails.
